Colour change reveals pressure

7 October 2009

US company Sensor Expert says its Pressurex film can reveal pressure distribution and magnitude between any two contacting or impacting surfaces. The thin plastics sensor film is placed at the actual contact surfaces and ‘instantaneously and permanently’ captures the pressure profile by changing colour.

As with Litmus paper, the colour Pressurex turns is also directly proportional to the amount of force applied and can be quantified.

The film be used in many applications including in a bolted joint interface, composite lay-up, heat sealing and lamination presses. It can act as a force sensing resistor and it can measure surface pressure distribution whether it is used as an impact force sensor, seat pressure sensor, as a strain gauge or even as nip impression paper.

Interested companies are invited to tell Sensor Expert the pressure range most suitable to their application (plus their complete contact info and a full mailing address) and the company will send them a sample of the Pressurex film.
