This year, specialist developer of precision coated materials Exopack Advanced Coatings is celebrating its 40th Anniversary at its European site.
When the company was founded in Wrexham, in 1968, its sole service was specialised contract coatings and the electronics industry provided the majority of the turnover. Today, under new owner Exopack Holdings, with development and manufacturing operations in the UK and the US, its customer portfolio has widened to the medical, optical, security, conductives and printing markets. .
The company has played an intrinsic role in the early development of technologies such as breathable wound dressings and hard coated films for product applications ranging from sunglasses to touchscreens – even helping minimize ice development on helicopter blades.
Moving forward, Exopack has big plans for the next 40 years and beyond. With the backing of its new owner, the company is currently investing heavily in the North Wales site. It is also looking to open a distribution facility in mainland China.
