Paperloop has sold its CMM International conference and exposition business to the PennWell Corp. CMM is the premier trade show for the converting and package printing industry; the recent CMM 2005 in Chicago was the 15th edition of this biennial event.
Paperloop says the sale is in line with its strategy announced earlier this year, to focus on providing information products and services to the global pulp and paper, wood products/timber, and tissue/non wovens markets. The financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
CEO Rod Young says: "CMM is the only converting-exclusive event in the world and it's a great fit for PennWell. As with our sale of the Tissue World franchise in February, the decision to divest this asset is another step in our strategic plan to extend our position as the leading provider of information in the forest products market and related sectors."
PennWell is a highly diversified, business-to-business media company with headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It provides print and on-line publications, conferences and exhibitions, research, databases, on-line exchanges and information products to global industries, including oil and gas, electric power, water, electronics, semiconductor, contamination control, optoelectronics, fibre optics, computer graphics, enterprise storage, and information technology.
The addition of CMM International brings a new market to PennWell. It also complements the group's Electronic Publishing franchise, which includes a publication, e-newsletter, website, and conferences for design, printing, and publishing professionals.

The next CMM show will be June 4-7, 2007, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, near Chicago.
