CMM conference links suppliers and end users

19 July 2004

To run alongside CMM International, next April in Chicago, The Consumer Packaging & Converting Connection Event is a by-invitation-only conference that will bring together end user executives with specific package purchasing authority and converting materials and machinery suppliers with innovative solutions to consumer goods package converting. Produced by Packaging Strategies, the event will take place on April 18 and 19, 2005, during the first two days of the show.

It will feature presentations from leading packaging and consumer trend experts on a broad range of packaging, converting, and supply chain topics, and offer solutions critical to packaged goods companies.

Ian Johnston, CMM president, says the Consumer Packaging & Converting Connection Event will enable packaging professionals to learn about the latest technologies and trends alongside their converter partners in the conference sessions and networking luncheon. "Then," he adds, "they can walk the CMM show floor together to see the actual technologies in use. Although the programme will target senior level consumer packaging professionals, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the show floor and engage in meaningful dialogue with leading solution providers."

He continues: "Packaging professionals are becoming increasingly involved with the production side of the equation and our consumer packaging focused event will provide them with a unique opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the latest technologies in everything ranging from electronic/digital workflow technologies to the threats and opportunities of off-shore manufacturing and converting."

David Luttenberger, director of Packaging Strategies, adds: "The delineation between converted package suppliers and their end user customers is blurred. The Consumer Packaging & Converting Connection Event clearly sees the two sides coming closer to jointly develop and deliver highly functional packaging solutions using materials, machinery, and operational processes that accelerate the time-to-market process."
