Clearing the way for new corrugated ideas
Under the banner “Fresh ideas for your packaging”, Mondi Corrugated Packaging will prove at FachPack in Nuremberg this year that the application possibilities for corrugated board are almost limitless. In particular, the focus will be on the extensive product benefits for customers. Whether it’s for retail, the cold chain or even the automotive industry, Mondi will unveil the unexpected potential of corrugated board.
Corrugated packaging is perfectly suited to applications that have until now been the preserve of other packaging materials. For instance, with Mondi‘s water-, oil- and grease-resistant polymer coating Paratherm, corrugated boxes can replace polystyrene boxes in the cold chain. As well as being recyclable, barrier enhanced corrugated board is compared to not coated board more durable and therefore suitable for more extreme conditions. With Paratherm coated corrugated board, prawns or fish that have been frozen at the dockside can be carried safely to processing hubs. And within the retail cold chain, trays used for packed meat and sausage products are highly successful.
For the automotive industry too, Mondi Corrugated Packaging offers tailor-made varieties: single-use, CKD solutions made from heavy-duty corrugated board can be used for sea freight and are a convincing product for logistics experts. At FachPack, the company will also present corrugated packaging for engines. Paratherm provides the ideal functional barrier here, and is able to prevent seepage of lubricants such as oil.
Additionally, Mondi Corrugated Packaging possesses special expertise and versatile state-of-the-art production processes in the field of shelf-ready secondary packaging. As a result of its close networking relationship with Mondi Consumer Goods Packaging, the company is able to dovetail primary and secondary packaging requirements seamlessly.
Visitors to the fair will be able to discover how good secondary placement at the point of sale can look: from shaped pet food pouches and shelf-ready offset-printed packaging to innovative carrying solutions for multipacks and digitally printed displays – Mondi offers all of the necessary marketing elements. The company even produces the printable corrugated board pallets with water-repellent bases on which the displays stand. In this way, it is possible to provide branded products with well thought out designs – everything from one source and all fitting together perfectly.
Technological innovations are second nature to Mondi: re-closable packaging for e-commerce is now available, as are QR codes suitable for serial printing.
