The Clarifoil acetate film business of Celanese Acetate is to continue to operate at the Spondon, Derby, UK, manufacturing facility.
In August, 2010, Celanese concluded it would consolidate its global acetate manufacturing capabilities with the closure of its acetate flake and tow manufacturing operations at the Spondon site. At that time, future operations of the Clarifoil acetate film business at the Spondon site were under review.
Celanese has now concluded that Clarifoil will operate as a stand-alone business on its independent site in Spondon after the closure of the acetate flake and tow manufacturing operations. The Clarifoil business currently employs approximately 70 people at the site.
