Carton Ideen is first for Zund's S3

5 June 2012

Switzerland-based Carton Ideen is the first customer for Zund’s recently launched S3 cutter. The fourth Zund machine purchased by Carton Ideen over the past four years, it has already been installed at the company’s Pfyn premises.

The S3 has a smaller footprint than Zund’s G3 model, but incorporates all the key features, including a “revolutionary” direct drive system and “ultra-fast” Z and T-axis control. The cutter is capable of processing a wide range of materials including textiles, vinyls, films and thinner plastics. Its capabilities can be further extended with creasing tools and 300W router insert.

Carton Ideen produces high-end mailings, packaging, displays, and advertising products. The high degree of individualisation requires considerable flexibility – a need the Zund’s technology is expected to fulfil.

Zund’s new Cut Center software dynamically guides the operator through the cutting process by continually offering best choices based on the material to be cut, available tooling, and quality requirements. This “virtually eliminates the need for operator experience, minimises set-up times, helps avoid mistakes, and ensures the cutter is running at maximum productivity levels at all times”.
