Carton converting costs cut

27 September 2002

Arpeco Engineering has introduced a processing system it claims will save time and costs in web based printing and converting of folding cartons.

Using flexible steel tooling, the Injector System processes printed web in-line without requiring use of a repeat specific magnetic cylinder. Instead, a set of fixed repeat magnetic cylinders supports infinitely variable die cut repeats - eliminating on-going invest- ment in tooling.

Combined with reduced makeready and running waste, according to Arpeco, it will "minimize job costs and maximize profit".

Modular in design, the Injector System is designed for rapid change-overs. The cutting module and waste stripping system roll out as a unit onto a convenient change-over plat- form. In a few minutes, the flexible steel dies and the stripping system are changed over and pre-registered. Once rolled back in, it is ready for use.

The system is fully servo driven.
