DS Smith's sale of Rochester, UK, based coating and laminating business BSK is to be followed by "major initiatives" aimed at growing the business profitably.
New executive chairman Colin Smith says: "As part of DS Smith, BSK was a non core business. However, becoming an independent manufacturer opens up a number of exciting opportunities. Our immediate strategy involves moving back into profit quickly from a break-even situation. This will allow BSK to implement initiatives designed to help grow the business by improving operating efficiencies and supply chain management, extending product innovation and increasing its global distributor network."
Employing 115 people and working to ISO 9001:2000, the company manufactures products such as Fixpack recyclable self seal corrugated mailers, Rustop corrosion inhibitor packaging and Moistop high barrier bags. It is also a major UK trade source for custom coating and laminating, bespoke conversions to individuals customer requirements.
