"Strong interest" in Smart Packaging 2004, running this month in Chicago - the week before Labelexpo Americas – has led organizer Tarsus to announce that Smart Packaging 2005 will run alongside Labelexpo Europe 2005, next September 22-23, in Brussels.

DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers has raised the prices of all its ethylene copolymers and terpolymers (including Surlyn resins for packaging applications) by €0.15/kg, effective September 1, 2004. The reasons cited for the increase are a dramatic increase in raw material costs, driven by high crude oil and natural gas prices, as well as shortages in specific raw materials. In addition, distribution and utility costs are said to have escalated rapidly.

Reed Exhibitions has confirmed that Corrugated 2006 will be held in Paris on May 15-20 of that year. More 120 companies from 17 countries are said to have already booked stands for the show.
Recent customers for Apollo sheeters include Polish converter Gemipap, who opted for a TSK model, and Gap Insaat, which has commissioned a new Apollo CTS machine at its new mill in Turkmenistan. The sheeters, formerly marketed under the Valmet brand, took the new Apollo name in February.
Dow Europe has increased the prices of all its PE and PP resins across Europe, effective September 1, by €120/t on all grades. The rise is blamed on "the tremendous rise in raw material costs during the first half of this year…additional increases in raw material costs during Q3, as well as unusually high oil prices".
