Messe Düsseldorf has announced the dates for drupa 2008, which will take place in Düsseldorf from May 29-June 11, 2008. Next year's drupa, (May 6-19,2004) is already fully booked, with around 1,800 exhibitors participating.

First in Tidland's new Raptor series of shaftless core chucks is an air powered lug chuck said to enable on-machine maintenance and tool-less adapter changes from 3-6in cores in less than 30s. Operators no longer have to remove the entire chuck from the machine for routine maintenance or core size changes.

A DW Renzman Roto 1000 distillation system installed at Pomeroy Pressroom Products, in Coleford, UK, is being used by Pomeroy's specialist flexo printing arm Plastotype, for recycling spent BASF nylosolv A wash-out solution and other chemistries. Following distillation, the regenerated nylosolv A will be returned to printers and plate makers ready for re-use.

Converting Solutions has supplied two slitting and rewinding machines to a large foil converter in Istanbul, Turkey. The first machine is a Consol DC-330 two-bar model for hot stamping foils. It has a web width of 1,600mm and a speed of 300m/min. The second slitter is a Consol TDC-150 duplex turret machine for use with thermal transfer ribbons. It has a 1,000mm web width, speed of 300m/min, front loaded integral unwind, and inclined leader trailer insertion unit.

Black Clawson Converting Machinery is to supply a three metre wide cast stretchwrap line to Scientex Packaging Films, Sdn Bhd, Shah Alam, Malaysia. It will be the fifth Black Clawson cast film line purchased by Scientex and will increase the company's total stretch film production capacity to approximately 50,000t/year.

BASF's new ester resistant nyloflex FE printing plate is said to be resistant to the ethyl acetates (esters) and alcohols contained in the two-component inks for flexo preprinting white. It is also said to permit a long run length when used with UV printing inks. The evenly good area coverage remains constant over the total print run, and register problems encountered in the use of rubber finished plates do not occur with this plate, says BASF.

Temporary but safe disconnection of power is often critical in paper conversion or anywhere dust could cause explosive atmospheres.
