18 January 2007

In Germany, plastics machinery manufacturer Kiefel has been acquired by the Brückner Group for an undisclosed sum.

With nearly 650 employees, Kiefel has sales of around €120M in 12 domestic and foreign locations. At the headquarter in Freilassing, production and special purpose machines for plastics processing in the packaging, automotive and medical and industries are manufactured; the Worms plant specializes in blown film extrusion systems and film winders for the packaging industry.

Brückner has an annual turnover of about €200M and about 600 employees in 14 companies in Germany and abroad. The group includes leading supplier of film stretching lines Brückner Maschinenbau, and cast film line specialist Brückner Formtec.

Brückner says that it will “continue to develop Kiefel in a decentralized manner within the framework of its own corporate structure”, and that it shall “also benefit from considerable synergy potentials together with Kiefel in the future - in particular the combination of product programmes and the joint use of sales and production platforms in Asia, Eastern Europe and the USA”.

A statement by Brückner Technology Holding management affirms: “As a company acting globally with a strong brand and sound customer relationships, Kiefel fits perfectly into the growth strategy of Brückner”.
