A recent £1M investment has provided a state of the art three-layer coextrusion machine for the bpi.films Scunthorpe, UK, site, which produces PE packaging films for the food and pet industries. The new line is a Reifenhauser with fully integrated gravimetric blend control and air ring gauge control. It is part of a larger investment programme that has seen the company install 10 new co-ex lines over the last three years to meet growing customer demand.
This latest installation resulted in a complete alteration of the Scunthorpe factory that, it is stated, will result in increased throughput and quicker turnaround times. The markets it will serve are packaging for produce, deepfreeze and a range of food and non food applications.
Sales manager Julie Enefer comments: "It is important to keep up to speed with changes in the industry and the new machine enables us to do so. It features a multifunction winder to suit the needs of the film we are extruding. Scunthorpe has always needed versatility to serve the wide range of markets it supplies and this machine is another the site has specified which enables it to provide that.
“We made sure that we invested in the best machine available to ensure our products remain of the same high quality - it has been an extensive implementation process but we have already seen the results. We have just compiled results from the first batch of products produced on the machine and are happy to report that we had no returns - I am sure this can continue with all our orders."
