Completely re-designed, the new Bobst flatbed die cutting lines for corrugated board are said to be “bigger, faster, and more productive”.
For example: to enable the layout of a maximum number of blanks per sheet, Bobst has increased the die cutting formats to 1,300 by 1,700mm (+25.6 per cent) for the Mastercut 1.7, and to 1,300 by 2,100mm (+ 5.8 per cent) for the Mastercut 2.1. The speed of the platens has also been increased, to 7,500 sheets/hour (+ 11 per cent) for the Mastercut 1.7 and 7,000 sheets/hour for the Mastercut 2.1 (+27 per cent).
The two platens are equipped with a linear motor driven Power Register sheet introducer that, by identifying the edge of the sheet, or printed marks, is said to guarantee “unequalled precision” of die cutting.
The cam and sector chain drive system controls accelerations and decelerations, and transports the sheet “with very few nicks” - at such high production volumes, manual loading and delivery is no longer a viable option, and the speed of the peripheral equipment has been adapted to suit the new lines.
