Bleeding resistance and printability in one resin

8 December 2005

A new tissue printing product from Johnson Polymer is said to combine excellent bleeding resistance with good printability properties. Joncryl 535 is an emulsion polymer that provides tissue printing inks with great resolubility and washability properties while maintaining high bleeding resistance, the company states. It is also low in odour (ammonia/amine-free) and is food contact approved (European Food contact legislation; the Super Regulation, and the FDA).

On press, Joncryl 535 is claimed to provide good printability with no problems restarting printing after stops. Printing plates are easy to clean and there is no fibre pick-up (even with poor paper quality), according to Johnson Polymer. Printing with the new resin is said to require no addition of glycol or other drying retarders, and runs are longer due to fewer stops needed for cleaning.
