Better box tracking

12 January 2009

Mondi claims to have developed an efficient method of applying RFID tags to corrugated packaging so that customers can effectively scan and track containers.

A high speed manufacturing process automatically applies the tags in large volumes, reducing the need for time consuming and labour intensive application and providing a pre-enabled box to improve stock management right from the start of the supply chain.

While existing bar code technology requires cases to be positioned in a certain way, and only one at a time, before scanning, Mondi’s RFID application process is said to enable ‘out of sight’ scanning, which means it is feasible to scan an entire pallet as it passes a single point.
