Belmont brings sheeting in-house

9 September 2004

Litho printer Belmont Press, in Northampton, UK, has commissioned an Apollo CTS sheeter - its first use of sheeting in-house. The company initially considered the 'in-line' sheeter option offered by some press manufacturers. But it found that the off-line sheeting solution from Apollo "provided a much higher output, equal quality and greater flexibility for a similar investment".

The Apollo CTS installed at Belmont has the capacity to serve several presses, rather than being tied to just one. It can also be easily up-graded later to provide even higher output, as demand grows.

Belmont's model has shaftless unwinds with individual tension control and de-curling. A reject gate is able to eject splices automatically and can be used to reject other types of paper faults, ensuring that only perfect sheets arrive at the stacker, it is claimed. High throughput is achieved with mechanized reel conveyors and an automatic pallet discharge and loading system - both also part of the Apollo sheeter package.
