Barrier film boost for integrated converters

25 July 2003

Pliant Corp has expanded its five and seven-layer blown co-extrusion capabilities for producing EVOH and Nylon barrier films. The company says its advanced film technology offers a combined barrier and sealant film that can reduce the number of lamination passes, saving time and money.

"Our technology gives non integrated converters the edge, allowing them to remain competitive in the changing marketplace," says Kevin Keneally, vp converter sales. "By controlling converting costs and saving on lamination passes, our customers can more affordably expand into additional markets."

These films are especially useful for packaging products requiring high barrier, such as cheese and meat, coffee, and confectionery. They are surface printable and can be combined with reclosable features - also provided by Pliant - to produce a finished package, all from one source.

Also new from Pliant is a Maxilene Retort Grade mono-layer cast film for production of retort pouches. It is available in a range of gauges.
