Baldwin Technology helps A & R Carton eliminate alcohol

9 October 2007

A Performance Filtration system from Baldwin Technology that is said to remove pollutants contaminating the dampening solution has been installed at German packaging printer A & R Carton. The new system has been installed on the company’s six-colour KBA Rapida 142.

A & R Carton, which has one of its factories in Königsbrunn, has been working towards the elimination of isopropanol on the Rapida for several years, as part of its philosophy to minimize waste and environmental impact, as well as improve the working conditions of its employees.

The new filtration system is said to automatically and continually remove a proportion of the dampening solution during production and pump it through a series of filter elements. These are contained within a cylindrical housing and consist of stacks of different filter discs, with varying characteristics suitable for particle and proportional micro filtration. The stacking principle results in a very large filter surface area, as well as prolonging the efficiency and durability of the filters, says the company.
