Baby's best

30 January 2004

The 2003 Amcor Flexibles Packaging Design Prize Competition was won by Alexa Lethen, from Hochschule Für Bildende Künste, Hamburg, for 'squeeez!' - a flexible pack for baby food. The jury described the winning design as "an original idea to meet a growing consumer demand." Babyfood is traditionally packed in glass jars or cans but 'squeeez!' combines flexibles and rigid plastics in an effective solution.

Two equal runners-up prizes went to Daniel Mauritzson, of Lund Institute of Technology, Sweden, for 'Puck' – a flexible lunch pack containing five crispbreads and cheese segments; and Lukasz Bertoli, of Politechnico Di Milano, Milan, for a flexible pack designed to boost sales of fresh apples.
