At Labelexpo Europe, AVT is presenting a new PrintVision/Helios II system with capabilities for on-line verification of bar codes, data matrix codes and variable data integrated into its print inspection systems.
The PrintVision/Helios II can inspect and verify UPC bar codes, 2D data matrix bar codes, and human readable information. The system performs 100 per cent verification of all bar codes and can detect and immediately signal any quality or readability problems. The PrintVision/Helios II’s ‘easy to use’ interface is said to make set-up and inspection of bar codes and variable data items fast and intuitive.
AVT’s WorkFlow Link communicates the quality information from the automatic inspection (AI) on the press to automatically control and stop the rewinder for the removal of defective material. This year, AVT is introducing additional workflow solutions to meet different production configurations.
The PrintVision/Helios II is now able to have bi-directional communication with MIS systems in the print production environment, receiving relevant job data from production, sending quality information to MIS. This contributes to shorter set-up times and increased automation, and eliminates the need to re-enter information (preventing possible data entry errors).
AVT partner GMI’s MicroColor NW remote ink control for label and narrow web applications is designed to support offset and letterpress. It provides remote colour control during set-up and run time. It features a touchscreen interface, supports CIP3 digital pre-setting and offers immediate colour shift identification.
