Avis offers maximum efficiency

3 September 2009

Tecscan believes its Avis (Advanced Video Inspection System) is ‘possibly the most sophisticated area scan defect detection system on the market today’. It enables the operator to produce the largest amount of good product in the shortest time with less waste than ever before, the company claims.

The Avis can be customised for defect detection sensitivity, to record job data on an Excel file, save and record failed images, highlight the defects, and provide a fail-trigger output - for external use with a tagger, or for stopping the press.

Tecscan also offers the Webranger, a ‘highly accurate, cost effective repeat length measurement and control tool’. It was developed initially for the hologram Industry, where very thin substrates needed a highly sensitive closed loop system to avoid variations in repeat length.

Said to be accurate to within 0.1 mm per 1,000 mm length, the Webranger has dual closed loop analogue outputs for automatic controls. There is a further alarm output to alert the operator to a repeat length variation outside their user-set limits.

The Webranger also creates a roll map style record of the job, recording repeat length variations along the length of the roll in metres.
