Avery Dennison launches new films at Labelexpo

Avery Dennison’s new Fasson lean film, a thinner-guage self adhesive film for bulk products in the personal and home care markets, was launched at the Labelexpo. The company says that the new machine-direction oriented film offers time and cost savings for both brand owners and label converters. Based on MDO technology, the new film is said to blend the benefits of both PE and PP films.

Speaking at the launch, Jan 't Hart, senior product manager, Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe, said: “The key feature of this film is the thinness of the facestock, which delivers significant improvement in the number of printed labels per converted reel of labelstock. With ‘cheeses’ nearly 30 per cent longer, converters can benefit from fewer reel changes on the press. Based on customer trials, we see estimated average savings of around 22 per cent less downtime.”

Fasson Lean Film has been optimised for primary product labels in a range of typical label sizes, applied to smooth container surfaces. Available in transparent and white, both topcoated and non-topcoated, Fasson Lean Film is supplied with Fasson S692N permanent, multi-purpose adhesive, and BG40 White glassine release liner.

The company also introduced a range of other products including a multipurpose solvent acrylic label adhesive for the electronic products market – the Fasson S8030, which it says is suited for plastics and other smooth surfaces, and the Fasson S2030, an emulsion-based permanent adhesive for wine labelling market. The company’s trials on S2030 show that four hours immersion in an ice chest creates no visual defects in the adhesive layer of the film.
