Automated ISO standardisation for presses

16 March 2009

X-Rite and Alwan Color Expertise have jointly developed what is claimed to be the first automated press quality control and ISO 12647 standardisation system. The Print Standardizer is claimed to provide affordable and easy to implement ‘out-of-the-box’ ISO 12647 standardisation for both analog and digital presses.

The Print Standardizer combines technologies from Alwan, X-Rite and its subsidiary Pantone. These include: Alwan’s PDF and print standardisation software CMYK Optimizer; the new Pantone Goe digital libraries, featuring 2,058 new colours; and X-Rite’s Intellitrax automated colour management scanning system for press-side colour control.

The developers say the intuitive software and wizards in the Print Standardizer allow users of any skill level to set printing standards and corresponding queue settings, and achieve instant workflow compliance with ISO 12647 requirements. Users can match any ISO standard printing condition including Fogra 39, GRACoL and SWOP on each and every job.

Printers will reduce print preparation time and dramatically cut waste paper and ink consumption, it is claimed.

The Print Standardizer is now available from X-Rite and Alwan’s European network of resellers.
