Atlas Converting Equipment has received an order for 11 of its primary and secondary slitter rewinders from DMT Technology, of Austria, a leading supplier of turnkey equipment and production lines for bi-axial stretched plastics films. At more than €16M in value, it is one of the largest orders received by Atlas.
The slitters will be supplied in conjunction with four new BOPP film production lines to be installed by DMT towards the end of this year in Ukraine, and Turkmenistan as well as two lines in Saudi Arabia, for start-up early in 2009.
The order comprises four Atlas primary film slitters of between 7.2 and 8.7 m width, five CW800 secondary slitters between 2.5 and 3 m wide and one smaller CW500 narrow width machine for cigarette packaging film. DMT has also confirmed an order for four high performance K Series vacuum metallizers from General Vacuum Equipment, a sister company of Atlas in the Bobst group.
“This large order has capped a very strong period of sales growth for our slitters over the past 12-18 months,” confirms Stan Braycotton, Atlas sales and marketing director. “Sixteen primary film slitters will be installed in China alone during 2008 and we have several other projects we are hoping will also come to fruition during the next few months.”
