Artwork Systems offers Best Practice help

20 December 2006

A new technology centre at the Artwork Systems UK office in Redditch will host a series of new ‘Best Practice’ workshops to give customers the skills to ensure they are using its software to its full potential. The workshops will be based on similar events held recently by the company in Germany. These are said to have been so successful that virtually every one has been sold out with extra workshops required for several products.

Artwork Systems plans to repeat the concept at key subsidiary sites throughout Europe during 2007. Each event will host up to 12 participants and be of one or two days' duration. The first UK workshops, covering Nexus, will take place on January 22-23 and 24-25.

“The new workshops will be totally different in content and aims to our seminars, which look at new functionality and features offered by the latest software updates,” says Nigel Wild, senior UK product specialist in charge of the UK events. “They will show operators how to use their software more effectively and how best to implement it with other technologies such as MIS, JDF, and PDF. Even people who have used our software for many years will be able to learn how to apply the latest functionality in everyday use. I had one example only a few weeks ago where an experienced Nexus operator was spending about 30min to split separations for a progressive proof. I quickly showed him how to achieve the same result in less than a minute and he was delighted.”

The initial series of Best Practice workshops will be held between January and July next year and each will be dedicated to an Artwork Systems product or to a technology such as PDF, MIS/XML, screening and calibration. There will also be a workshop on Illustrator. The workshops are designed to provide ‘hands-on’ experience and customers will have the opportunity to explore any areas relevant to their particular business.

“Customers have different requirements depending upon a whole range of criteria, from the markets they serve to the equipment in the factory and the people operating the systems,” says Nigel Wild. “One of the functions of the workshops will be to provide advice on future investments in hardware that is relevant to running Artwork Systems software.”
