Anzpac's Rapida will be the longest

28 June 2004

KBA has received an order from Anzpac Services (Australia), of Sydney, for a 12,000sheets/hour size 6 (55in) Rapida 142 comprising eight units, three dryers, autoconvertible perfecting, a triple delivery extension and automated pile logistics. Extending 40m with 13 units in total, at more than 131ft it will be the longest sheet-fed offset press worldwide, according to KBA.

Family owned Anzpac is one of Australia's premier manufacturers of high volume folding cartons. In 1986 it was purchased by Rothmans Holdings and is now the printing and packaging arm of British American Tobacco Australasia. The company also supplies packaging for leading brands of fast food, confectionery, medical diagnostics, fabric care and bakery products.

The new press, due for delivery in October, will enable Anzpac to trim costs by streamlining its production flow, with in-line perfecting and perfect coating.
