Anilox agreement

17 April 2008

Anilox roller specialist Kurt Zecher has signed a supply agreement that reinforces its existing business ties with Tetra Pak. Under the new agreement, which has a term of several years, anilox rollers will be delivered to Tetra Pak destinations worldwide.

The close co-operation between the companies began with the launch of the VT flexo printing machine by Tresu in 2002. The first system of this type went into production at Tetra Pak’s Singapore facility in 2003 and, in the years that followed, additional production sites were also equipped with the machine.

One feature of the VT series is its anilox sleeve technology. Together with Tresu, Zecher invested substantially in the development of anilox sleeves of the required large dimensions – 1,720mm long and 200.54mm in diameter. In addition to the size of the sleeves, the high production speed of the machine (600 m/min) was a particular challenge.

Such high speeds, combined with very long print runs, required new developments in the field of coatings and screen engraving. Zecher developed a special ceramic coat named Cerat and invested in laser technology to meet Tetra Pak’s specific requirements.
