Ameco Raster proves its point

26 April 2007

Ameco Raster UK reports satisfactory completion of performance and safety trials on a new narrow web rotogravure proofing press to be installed in France. The customer, ITVF, is a state security printer producing postage stamps and other government controlled products. This order follows closely on the heels of an identical machine supplied to Italian state controlled security printer IPZS.

Peter Hughes, of Ameco Raster UK, says his company hope to build on the initial success as they have only recently entered into the narrow web side of the business. Earlier this year, the supplier of flexo and gravure proofing presses entered into a co-operation arrangement with US based MarquipWardUnited, part of the Barry-Wehmiller group, which also owns flexo press manufacturer PCMC.

Ameco Raster’s Peter Hughes believes the new arrangement should assure potential North American customers of local support and service and eventually allow the company to break into the US market. The presses will be assembled at MWU's plant in Budapest.

The partnership got of to a flying start with orders for three rotogravure presses in as many weeks, all for projects in Europe. Two of the three machines will be equipped with automated setting systems and integrated into the central cylinder production controller for an automatic cylinder preparation line.
