Amcor is using Flint Group Flexographic Products’ Nyloprint WSA 52 Digital photopolymer plates and metal cylinders for sheetfed gravure printing on the HC Moog 1-TBR Compact sheetfed gravure press in its Rickenbach tobacco packaging site in Switzerland. This combination of press and plates is said to have improved the flexibility and speed to market of Amcor’s high quality tobacco packaging products.
The 1-TBR Compact, installed in December 2011, can be used for printing, varnishing, debossing or calendaring. Amcor employs it mainly for test samples, prototypes and jobs with short print runs. With more than half a year of experience, Amcor is very satisfied with the set-up, as the printing results are very close to the production quality of multicolour inline gravure presses.
The main advantages claimed for Nyloprint photopolymer plates are ease and speed of plate processing, even at a very high image resolution. Print results are said to demonstrate excellent solid ink density due to brilliant ink transfer, metallic gloss and brightness of metallic inks.
The Nyloprint WSA digital plate is suitable for printing and finishing of both paper and board substrates.
