Aleithe advances quality and productivity with Cyrel plates

17 September 2014

By switching to DuPont Cyrel Fast DFUV flexo plates for use with UV curable inks, German converter Aleithe Haftetiketten has improved solid ink density, boosting the quality of its high end tag and label products, while reducing waste and startup time by more than half.

"We have worked exclusively with Fast plates for the past eight years because they have allowed us to optimise our process and achieve very good quality," comments Frank Grünthal, prepress manager at Aleithe. "After transitioning to the new DFUV plates, we noted a visually significant improvement in our print quality, waste and prep time were cut in half, and prints came up to colour almost immediately. This translates into great results for our customers."

Aleithe did not have to change the setting of its Cyrel Fast equipment, which eliminated the need to readjust settings, and retrain both primary and back-up personnel in the plate processing department. Print quality improved immediately and because the plates do not pick up the ink and the dust in a way that requires frequent cleaning during the setup phase or during the print process, they experienced a dramatic reduction in the preparation of the print run.

These advantages have resulted in a dramatic reduction in preparation time; and because the prints came up to colour almost immediately, substrate waste was also cut by more than half.
