Alcan invests in dairy packaging press

14 November 2005

A new €5.2M state-of-the-art Cerutti 36I gravure press at the Alcan Packaging site in Dijon, France, will be used in the production of flexible packaging for the dairy market. Twenty-five new jobs will be created at the site's converting operation.

"This investment will allow us to respond better to our customers' needs and strengthen our position in the dairy market in France," says Michael Cronin, president, Alcan Packaging Food Europe. "The site is already a good example of our objective to develop centres of excellence and this investment will further increase the plant's capacity and competitiveness."

Alcan Packaging Dijon employs 300 people, and has long experience in specializing equipment for specific product ranges. The new high productivity press is equipped with seven printing stations plus coating, and monitoring and inspection systems. It will produce wraparound labels for yogurt containers.
