Neuenhauser Vorwald's series MB pneumatic multi-bladder airshafts are suitable for both wide and narrow reel applications. Manufactured from high strength lightweight aluminium, they have bolted steel journal ends, manufactured to the customer's requirement, to fit any production machine.
The shafts can also accommodate half the full length expansion lugs designed for centring with other expansion lugs used for gripping and holding the reel in position. An existing MB shaft can have its centring or gripping modified in accordance with the customer's changing requirements, says Neuenhauser Vorwald.
To illustrate the lightness of these shafts, a 75mm diameter, 1.6m long model is said to weigh approximately 8kg and a 150mm diameter, 2m long shaft would weigh approximately 23kg.
The shafts are available in 75 and 150mm diameters, with other sizes available on demand. On-site servicing is said to be very easy using standard hand tools with accessible flat bladders and clamping technology.
