In the UK, the Packaging Industry Awarding Body Co has developed a certificate and diploma in packaging that is now incorporated into the national education framework. Through learnpackaging.org, students around the globe will be able to study for the certificate and diploma.
The Institute of Packaging is working with the Asia Pacific region to deliver an educational programme to a common standard for China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. This, in turn, will be accredited by PIABC.
Institute of Packaging chief executive John Webb-Jenkins boasts: "The IOP therefore is now poised to become the centre of excellence for educational training for the packaging industry, not only in the UK, but worldwide, and is part of our mission for the future."
