4Packaging activates AutoCon

18 January 2006

4Packaging has integrated two HelioKlischograph K500 engraving systems into a fully automated AutoCon production line at its new site in Dissen, Germany. The line covers electroplating with slimline baths, surface treatment with CFM Compact and Multipilot, engraving with K500, and cylinder loading and unloading with the Gemini Compact Monorail crane.

AutoCon is a joint project between three companies, Bauer-Logistik, K Walter and Hell Gravure Systems. It enables continuous, fully automated cylinder production and is said to offer benefits over manual cylinder engraving. These include high production output on as small footprint, low personnel costs, consistently high quality, transparent production, integration of existing structures and processes, and a single contact for the full gamut of process steps.
