2016 EFIA FLEXOGRAPHIC AWARDS ROARING SUCCESS

With over 500 attendees, over 70 winners from Highly Commended to Gold standard and nearly £4,000 raised for a local charity, this year's EFIA Print Awards gala dinner was a roaring success.

Held at The Vox, Resorts World, Birmingham, a brand new location for the annual print awards celebration of the best in flexography, this year's event took the crowd by storm with music, entertainment and a spectacular Best In Show presentation.

Leading the winners in 2016, were once again TRM Packaging Ltd, recently acquired by D.S.Smith, who for the second year running won the Best In Show Award, with their Weetabix Breakfast Biscuits pack submission. Silver in the category was achieved by Interflex Group and Bronze went to DS Smith.

Commenting on the evening, Andy Young, Chairman of EFIA said: "This is the second year of the awards under my tenure and I truly believe we delivered an outstanding evening. The feedback has been fantastic with everyone having a great time but more importantly seeing the quality that our industry is now achieving. This year we also showed a video of the judging process which seemed to be received well, demonstrating to members and partners the complexity, dedication and diligence that goes into judging the many categories we have today."

Debbie Waldron Hoines, Executive Director of EFIA, added: "In response to feedback from members, we will be adding additional flexible packaging categories to the 2017 awards to ensure the full volume of business in the U.K is accurately represented. We see fantastic submissions from across our industry but we want to see more from the high growth flexible packaging area; we're reflecting that desire with new surface and lamination print categories for flexible packaging printers to showcase their capabilities. We listen to our membership and respond accordingly."
