For more than 30 years Italian company Bimec has developed and built a comprehensive range of world leading slitter rewinders. At the heart of this achievement is the passion and enthusiasm of its founding family and staff.

All at Bimec are dedicated to innovation and design to the highest international standard. Their commitment to building the best equipment available is made possible by close teamwork within Bimec, its strong commitment to listening to the market and the flexibility to satisfy the needs of customers.

Its staff are specialist trained to the highest standard, giving them the ability to unite tested traditional methods with innovative technologies.

The Bimec global network of support partners provides a worldwide service.

Bimec’s wide range of slitter rewinders includes:

¦¦ Duplex slitter rewinder series STM, which is able to unwind mother rolls up to 1,000-1,200mm and rewind finished rolls up to 800mm diameter. It can reach a maximum speed of up to 600m/min, and these models combine the flexibility of duplex slitters with high performances thanks to their automatic tension controls.

¦¦ Duplex slitter rewinder series STS is able to unwind mother rolls up to 1,000-1,200mm and rewind finished rolls up to 800mm diameter. It can reach a maximum speed of up to 700m/min, and the machines are equipped with linear lay-on rolls that guarantee maximum efficiency and control sensitivity in rewinding, particularly at high speed. Unwind tension is controlled through a regenerative self-braking motor. They can be supplied with the new Easy Start system facilitating automatic cutting of the web at the end of the run and the possibility of an automatic restart.

¦¦ Other time-saving options include automatic positioning of shear knives, which can be used with the rewind laser beam core positioning system. As with all Bimec dual-spindle slitter rewinders, the STS features a user-friendly design. Easy access to the slitting system and integrated electrical equipment are built into the machine’s compact design.

¦¦ Duplex turret slitter rewinder series TCA is able to rewind finished rolls up to 800mm diameter. The models in this series are available in different versions: compact, overhead web path or with running-board. These machines are designed for converters with high production at high performances with minimum downtimes.

¦¦ Slitter rewinder with centre driven rewind with motorised rewind arms model BTS. This is a heavy duty slitter for wide web widths and large roll diameter incorporating centre rewind on separately driven rewind arms. The machine can rewind finished rolls up to 1,000mm diameter.

¦¦ Duplex slitter rewinder for narrow web: The TBS is the most recently introduced model. It is dedicated to those converters that slit narrow webs.

Bimec ancillary equipment includes:

¦¦ Automatic and manual core cutter for the cutting of board tubes

¦¦ Reversible salvage rewinders

¦¦ Unwinders and rewinders

Consolidating its presence on a worldwide stage, the company has secured sales in Australia, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland.

Despite the crisis in the global market, Bimec has invested its own resources to build a second production department very close to its headquarters. Once finished, it will be used for the new production lines and a dedicated R&D department.

Another important development over the past few months was the acquisition of Italian company Axial. Established some years ago, Axial has developed an innovative project for the production of thermo shrink packaging dedicated to the sleeve industry.

The synergy with Axial will enlarge the Bimec production range and enable it to develop new machinery for the shrink sleeve market, which will be produced in the new production unit.

Bimec and Axial will exhibit at the next K2010 international show in Düsseldorf, which takes place from 27 October-3 November. On stand B06 in Hall 3 it will exhibit some of its latest machines.
