Gravure presses engineered for paper and board

13 November 2006

A new range of rotogravure presses has been designed to meet the needs of paper and board converters, reports Komori-Chambon. Its GR Mark 1 and GR Mark II have been developed specifically for the production of high quality converted packaging materials.

Combining new technology with user friendly, environmental and safety concerns, these new engineering concepts are designed for wide application and to meet the high demand of leading packaging manufacturers for competitive prices and a high standard of production, says the French company. Available in 650 and 830mm widths, customized press configurations may be provided with further converting options such as a rotary die cutter, label cutter, a BHS flat bed die cutter, hot foil stamping, a sheeter, in-line embossing and debossing, a rewinder and palletizer.

“Such configuration flexibility offers packaging producers an alternative in terms of investment and adaptability to market needs,” says the company. The GR Mark 1, for example, targets markets with medium to short volumes, where speed is not of the essence. On the other hand, the GR Mark II is specially designed for high speed and lower production costs. It addresses the requirements of markets with high volumes. Substantial savings in time and waste can be achieved through technologies such as a removable printing trolley and full press management automation, according to Komori-Chambon.

A wide range of optional equipment is available to extend the functionality of the press. Simple management interface and the performance of direct drive technology are claimed to assure maximum accuracy, printing stability and offer flexibility in press configuration.
