by Debbie Waldron-Hoines, Executive Director, EFIA.

Over 530 people attended this year’s prestigious EFIA awards gala dinner at The Armouries, Leeds, UK, on 31 March. Steve Rider, the sports commentator and TV personality, returned as the presenter by popular demand and ensured the event was professionally managed and delivered.

David Galton, EFIA’s current Chairman, outlined the new EFIA strategy to support members to be successful in today’s difficult climate. Part of the plan is shortly to launch a new state-of-the-art website to give members information and help on all aspects of flexographic print production.

EFIA is also about to upgrade to ‘Academy 2’ , the second stage of its current online e-learning platform. Included in the development will be a modular e-learning system with the bite-size training modules covering all aspects of the packaging development and the print process, addressing the full cycle of packaging development workflow.

This innovative upgraded training package is suitable for printers, designers, brand owners, sales people and, in fact, anyone who works within the packaging industry.

EFIA would like to thank once again its loyal and supportive sponsors, without whom the awards dinner would not be able to take place: Sun Chemical as headline sponsor, Bobst, Kodak, 3M, YRG, Asahi, Flexotech and Converting Today. EFIA would also like to thank the new sponsors for 2011 and hope that they will continue their support, comprising DS Smith, Stehlin Hostag, SGS and Brand Imaging.
