Flexo: F&K press to boost production

29 September 2009

Flexible packaging converter Skymark has invested in a new flexo press to restore lost production capacity caused by the devastating fire at its Leominster, UK, facility. The new Fischer & Krecke FP 16S-10 press with Smart GPS (Graphic Positioning System), is due to become operational at the company’s Scunthorpe facility by the end of this month.

It is claimed that time consuming, costly registration and impression related set-up when changing over to a new print job are eliminated by the German press builder’s new Smart GPS system.

The FP 16S-10 offers a 10-colour printing capacity, a top speed of 600m/min and can print a wide range of substrates. It features maintenance-free gearless direct drive of the CI cylinder to ensure improved register performance; pivoting, easily accessible intermediate dryers; and the Access system, which allows non-operational print units to be set up during a production run.
