Flexibility features promised

First of a new range of presses from the Edale stable is scheduled for launch this autumn. The Sigma makes extensive use of independent servo drives for accuracy and flexibility.

Each Sigma will be custom built to the customer's specific requirements. The first, a 430mm model with four print stations, two rotary die stations, a turnbar and a vacuum take-off delivery system, has been ordered by Tamar Labels for its new Devon, UK, factory.

Capable of handling a wide range of substrates up to 600 micron thick, the press is suited to packaging and carton production, says the company. Available for webs of 330, 430, 510 and 620mm, it is based on Edale's In-Line Horizontal (ILH) concept, similar to that used in wide web presses. All rollers in the print head are arranged in a horizontal plane, eliminating the need for a central pin through the plate roller and making for rapid removal of the print carriage. Print cylinder and anilox roller can be lifted out without the use of tools and there is no need for a centering control, thus reducing the number of print head controls and the set-up time when changing material thickness, adds Edale.
