Increased shareholding
Swedish paper company, SCA, has increased its ownership in the Hong Kong based tissue company Vinda from 14 per cent to 19 per cent. Vinda is among the three largest companies within the tissue market in China. In March 2007, SCA acquired a first 20 per cent of the shares in the company. This was later diluted to 14 per cent when Vinda was listed through an IPO on the Hong Kong stock exchange in July. “By increasing our stake in the company, we secure a strategic position that gives us a stronger foothold in the very important Chinese market, which is the second largest tissue market in the world”, says Jan Johansson, president and ceo of SCA.
